Infernoguard 30 Minute Fire Door Installation - With Door Stop Seals.
Important Instructions that Must be followed.
Check your required floor clearance. The maximum allowable floor gap between the finished floor level & the bottom of the door is 10mm. Trim or pack the bottom of jambs to the required height.
Remove the doorstop that is pinned to the jamb.
Place doorset in opening.
Fix hinge jamb first as follows: At the top hinge location secure the door jamb to the wall. Minimum of 1 fixing per location. (See below for sizes). Plumb the hinge jamb by wedging behind each hinge, and secure back onto the wall at each hinge point. Wedging gap to be 10mm max, 5mm min. At the centre between each hinge wedge & apply another fixing. (Where doorsets are double hinged at the top, fixing between these hinges is not required) For doors over 2200 high extra fixings points at the top of the vertical jambs is recommended.
Fix the closing jamb at opposing points to the hinges. Add a wedged fixing at the latching location. Wedging gaps same as above. Ensure the door is plumb and opens and shuts freely. The doorset must be square in the opening (not twisted) to prevent hinges binding and to maintain correct clearances.
For double door set head fixing, fix the head so that the jamb is parallel with the tops of the doors. Gap between top of doors and jamb is critical, 3mm max gap. Wedge and fix head directly at latching positions across the head, add 1 wedged fixing midpoint of doors.
Important: Where a roller ball catch/power bolt is required for head latching to both double & single doorsets, solid wedging between the jamb and the wall must be employed at the this position.
Reposition the doorstop leaving a 5-6mm gap between the door and the stop. (see drawing)
Insert seal once doorset has been painted.
Wedging gap between jambs and the stud/lintel, to both sides of the doorset must have a PEF backing rod installed, then be filled with Intumescent mastic to a min depth of 10mm. For doors installed in masonry walls, the bead of mastic is to be increased to 20mm deep.
Fix plaster board. For rebated jambs it is important the linings are inserted to the base of the grooves in the jambs.
For doorsets requiring architraves, architrave thickness minimum 10mm.
Screws: Min size (10g x 75mm self tapping) minimum one screw per location.
Nails in jambs: Min size (3.2 x 75mm) two nail per location.
Nails in doorstop (50 x 2.0mm) at 400 or closer centres.
Architraves (40 x 2.0mm min) at 400 centres.
Dynabolts (75 x 8g min)
Wedging Gap: Recommended Average 6mm.
Steel Stud Wall
Timber studs (45mm x steel stud width) must extend full height of famed opening, plus a timber lintel all as illustrated.
The steel stud is to be fixed to the timber stud at 700mm centres with 2 of 25 x 8g pan head screws as a minimum requirement. Screw fixing is through the back of the steel stud into the timber.
No boxed steel stud is required.
Plaster board is to be fixed to both the steel studs and the timber studs as per manufacturer’s specifications.
